Greetings from Brasil 12/3/2014

Dear Family,
We are grateful for the progress that Mom is making in her recovery. We are especially grateful to those who can help her while we are in Brazil.
This week, we had the opportunity to participate in baptisms in Pampulha and Venda Nova. Gilberto, baptized in Pampulha, first heard about the gospel from a friend in the ward. In Venda Nova, there were six baptisms, including the wife and three adolescent children of a man recently returning to church. The missionaries were inspired and fortunate to find his name on an old ward list. His name was not on the most recent list. It was humbling to watch his emotions of joy as his entire family was baptized.
Yesterday at zone meeting, we received special cards to share with people about a church video about the gift of Christ and Christmas at natal.mormon.org. I am sure that there will be an English version as well.
Diane made Thanksgiving dinner for us. Thanks to the Mercado Central, we were able to find spices and ingredients. Unfortunately, the only turkeys were frozen and too big for our oven, so we had chicken. Cultural note: the stores here have Black Friday sales the same day as the U.S. They use the name Black Friday in English. But, for Brazilians, it is just a random Friday in November.
That’s all for now.
Love,

Dad/Cliff
