Greetings from Brazil 8/7/2014

Dear Family,
The work continues to grow here in Pampulha. We continue to find people interested in returning to activity in the church. We are trying to have two family home evenings per week to invite more people into our home for a message and “American” refreshments. Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and apple pie are big hits. This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to help with the blessing of a baby of a family of a husband who we are teaching and his wife who is returning to church. A man returning to church was also ordained to receive the priesthood. As we reach our 5 month anniversary here in Pampulha, we are nearing completion of visiting the homes of all the members.
Much like the parable of the talents, we are now blessed with additional responsibilities. We are now also working with the Lagoa and Venda Nova Wards in the stake. These wards are adjacent to Pampulha, so there are areas that are readily accessible by bus. However, there are many more distant areas as well. We are still working out how we can fulfill our additional assignment, but we know that the Lord with provide a way.
For our preparation day, we visited Mangabeira Park which is in the mountains overlooking Belo Horizonte. It was relaxing to walk out in the wooded area. We saw marmosets, coatis, and a variety of birds. Afterward, we visited the Mercado Central (Central Market), a large indoor shopping area covering a city block with hundreds of small stores selling everything from food to pets. This is a frequent stop for us as we can find some things only there. http://www.mercadocentral.com.br/
We are off for another week of missionary experiences. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve here.

Love,

Dad/Cliff
